Male', MALDIVES - Yemen Football Association has rejected FAM’s proposed dates to play the World Cup 2010 qualifying round one match. AFC scheduled to complete the home and away clashes by 28th October and FAM requested to play the first leg on 19th and the returning leg on 26th of October to avoid playing in Muslim’s holy month of Ramadan.

According to FAM’s general secretary Addo, the only reason Yemen stated in their reply was to respect the decision by their technical committee.

“They rejected our dates, because their technical people suggested them to play on AFC dates” Addo said.

AFC dates are October 8th and 28th, but continent’s football governing body supports the dates agreed by two teams if two games will complete by 28th of October.

Since Yemen rejected FAM’s proposed dates, the first qualifying game will be played in Yemen on 8th October and the returning leg will be played in Male’ on 28th October.
